Prepare to witness the greatest football show on earth…
On a day in July 2011, be prepared to give up a few hours of your day to witness what may be the greatest show for football fans on earth (other than the World Cup); the A:3k football challenges. Some of the world’s biggest stars are taking part in the challenge, including: Cesc Fabregas, David Villa, Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, and Steven Gerrard, who will all strut their stuff inside a packed O2 Arena, with the aim to be the ‘World’s Best Player’. With a combined transfer value of over 300 million pounds, this is sure to be a great event.

The event isn’t just looking exciting on the player’s front; involved in the lighting and special effects is world renowned lighting and production designer Marc Brickman. The O2 Arena is being transformed into a futuristic theater with a black colored 3G astro-turf style surface for the world’s best stars. Marc will also be providing special effect lighting, audio and even lasers and holographic targets! The setting, design and the names that are involved in this event are astounding.

The players will be pushed to their limits in terms of ability and on the mental front. Imagine the hype from the press or other players if these stars under-perform when the stage and expectation is this high. The players will have no manager or teammates to turn to, so they will have to just trust on their own raw talent and ability to perform on arguably the world’s highest stage (once again second to the World Cup). To make it all the more exciting, the players will be competing head-to-head, so their technique and nerve will be tested to the maximum.
The challenges they will face include:
A:3K Power
A:3K Control
A:3K Precision
A:3K Curve
A:3K Attack
On the football boot side of things, there is promised to be great boots on show at the competition. Gerrard with his Adidas Predator X’s, C.Ronaldo with his Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II’s (or possibly III’s by this point), David Villa with his Adidas F50 Adizero (possibly the Prime), Fabregas with his Nike CTR360 Maestri (the second edition most likely), Drogba with his Superfly’s, and Rooney with his Nike Total 90 Laser III’s (or IV’s).

Adizero Prime.
The winner’s boots will surely receive great praise as they will be worn on the ‘greatest player in the world’, and it will have performed on such a high level. For me, a major disappointment is the non-inclusion of Lionel Messi. He is currently seen as the greatest player in the world in many people’s eyes. The event is a year away though, so maybe the line-up of stars will change by that time.

The great Lionel Messi.
There will be 1500 tickets on sale supposedly and ITV 1 will be exclusively televising this event for the UK (not sure about other countries). This is looking like it is going to be a ground breaking event, and is what every football fan dreams of; the best players in the world battling it out by themselves to prove they are the best.
Be prepared to be amazed….
