With no real competition to the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly, it seems Adidas have finally decided to break into the speed market with their new soccer shoe, the Adidas F50 Adizero.
As you can see in the pictures below, there are three different colorways so far; a Black/Yellow (we are testing a pair of these), a Yellow/Black, and a Purple/Green. All of the pictures are of the Sprint Skin versions, however we’ve heard of Adidas releasing a leather one as well! It will be interesting to see how Adidas keep the weight down whilst using leather for the soccer shoes! The Purple edition will be Lionel Messi’s special cleat line, and we reviewed his current pair, the Adidas F50i. We are currently wear-testing a pair of the Adidas F50 Adizero’s, so stay tuned as that will be up in the upcoming weeks! The F50i seems to be a big hit amongst professionals with the likes of David Villa, Emmanuel Adebayor, Shawn Wright Phillips, Jermain Defoe and host of stars around the globe wearing the cleats, so we can expect most of them to switch into these in May.
Some specs and details about the Adidas F50 Adizero’s (Sprint Skin version):
When released, the new F50 Adizero’s will be the lightest boots in the world! The official weight of the cleats will be a stunning 5.8 ounces, making it a full ounce lighter then the Mercurial Vapor Superfly. The F50 Adizero’s are hollowcore constructed cleats and thermobonded to reduce weight and increase durability. The thermobond technology is also used in Adidas’ Jabulani, the new World Cup ball for 2010. Adidas have scraped their Tunit technology which has been the main feature in almost all of the previous F50 versions. However, they will still feature trademarks from the past F50 lines like, Sprint Skin, Sprint Frame and Traxion.
UPPER: Sprintskin revolutionary microfiber for a second skin fit and textured ball control: (This technology was used in the Adidas F50i microfiber version.)
The Adidas F50 Adizero will also feature a new technology called Sprint Frame, and while we can’t unveil everything about it yet, it will be a key thing we look at in the review!

great look and design, colours not bad either but one small stud on your foot while wearing those boots and your toe is gone..
for a fast striker though these boots should prove to be amazing.
it says that these boots run a half size down, which sounds strange as most speed boots run a half size up i.e if your a size 9 normally u wuld buy a 9.5. Does any1 know if this is defiantly right.

We tested a US size 11 like we do with most other speed boots, but we probably would have been better suited to a 10.5. I see you tested the us 11 size and they were 167 grams! wow! i have the superflys in us 11 and they were 210 grams! so they´re even lighter than i thought. Great you measured it guys! Please give us some featback about the adizero as soon as possible. Im a nike fan but if this shoe is as amazing as its weight then im gonna switch to these.

Thanks for checking out SER. Sorry once again for the confusion. If you are an 8.5 in Adipure, then yes, you should order an 8 for the Adizeros. They are quite a bit larger on the feet then one would expect.

I have the purple chameleon sprint skin boots. DEAR LORD, I love them!
The boot is so light. I got them a little over a month ago and they are standing up to the playing standards. The first week was kinda rough, the tongue would slide down and press into my toe joints, that was not comfortable. But after that they were fine. I got a blister on the back of my left heel but I played through it. I love my boots. And i’m sorry to all the people who think these boots are going to make you faster, its all on the player. Adidas made a great boot in my opinion. I suggest you buy when the come on the market.

Good question. The first two colorways the Adidas F50 Adizero will come in will be the Black/Yellow and Yellow/Black. They will probably be released mid-May, in time for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

why would they call these f50s? im going to be sad if adidas are going to scrap the tunit line and just make them like this from now on. the only reason i bought my f50s were the customisability, and if thats not present, i dont think many people will buy them. i lie the look, and the massive weight reduction, but i think the lack of customisation options is going to kill this boot.

There is been a lot of confusion about the sizes so i thought I’ll put in a question as well. Its not related to the new F50. I have ordered the older F30.8(with the transparent pit in the middle and three stripes at the front).
I used to wear UK 8.0 F10s, but there a bit tight now with thick socks, but my Predators and Nike T90 Air Zoom UK 9.0 are still big.
The website said the F30.8 were ‘small fit’. SO should i order a UK 8.5 or UK 9.0

Hey Ben. I was just wondering, are they gonna release more colours for these adizero’s? What are they?
These shoes are amazing. I’ve worn them for seven days with different weather conditions and hard training and I have no blisters whatsoever. They are also very comfortable, you feel yourself tired yet your feet still want to have a go at it. Plus talking about durability, they show no signs of disfigurement and are really holding up to any challenges.
I am wondering how much protection do they give you for the top of your feet, for example if you get stepped on with another cleat how much protection will they give you? Also, how durable is the sprint skin fabric? Thanks

Thanks for checking out the site! For the synthetic version, there really is no protection at all. The reason its so light without something like carbon fiber is how thin the material in the upper is. However, the Sprint Skin while it doesn’t offer very much protection, it seems to be durable!

Thanks for checking out the site! That’s a tough question and one I can’t really answer for you. It’s all down to personal preference. However, if it were me, I’d choose the Adidas F50 Adizero Leather. The important part is the Leather. I’m at the moment reviewing the Leather version and it is heads and tails better (at least for me) than the Synthetic version. Also, it’s more than a hundred USD cheaper!
