Following on from my review of the Adidas Predator LZ, I have continued to wear the boots (because I really like them) and unfortunately.. The tear I briefly mentioned has developed into quite a serious problem and they have had to be returned.
While I do not want this to put people off purchasing the LZ, because as mentioned they are a really good football boot, I must reiterate the fact that you must check the seams around the boot before purchasing them. We felt this was a better time than ever with many people buying football boots for the new season.
The tear itself is on the inside of the boot, on the right foot, alongside one of the main seams. When I first got the boot I immediately highlighted this area as a potential hot spot for tears and my concerns turned out to be proved correct. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures since they have been sent back. However, the picture below highlights the crease where the boot ended up splitting.
This is just a very quick post to highlight the fact that the right boot of my LZ practically fell apart after little more than a month’s use. The problem first started after the second use and they deteriorated from there. If you’re considering buying the LZ (as well as any boot), make sure you check the glue job! If it’s shoddy then do not buy the boots!

wait you have a post about a big tear in your boots but don’t have picture?
I’m afraid so Kevin. It’s a little unprofessional on our part but unfortunately we no longer have the boots and didn’t have an opportunity to take pictures of them when we did.
damn :/ was it just a shoddy glue job and not the actual process used to cement the upper to the shoe? I.e. would you expect this to be the case with all Lz’s?
You lot sure don’t seem to have any luck with the boots you test
I’ve been using mine daily for two months now
And I’ve had no problems at all
I think yours is a yet again a one-off
Hey Robert,
Maybe it is just a one off. I’d say whats most likely with your pair is that they are well made. As I said in my post, I believe the fault was because of a poor glue job. I cannot stress that if you are buying in store, make sure you check the seams!
You guys are always having durability issues with boots…T90, Pele and now Predators! Did you play an FG soleplate on a turf surface? Maybe this is the reason why you keep having problems.
These guys probably used them too badly or they played at wrong surface….. I have been using my Predator LZ for 3 months and still have no durability issues at all
i have my adipure sl which have split at the toe but have not returned them to prodirect yet. they say that i will have to pay for shipping and then they’ll judge them – can you help me? not sure if it’ll be worth it (how much i will get back because of age – 1 year old) not sure what to do. also could you maybe do an article of doing returns/ refunds from adidas/prodirect etc.?
if you wore them on turf, it’s practically proven that turf ruins FG boots.
Otherwise, this is basically an official statement that the sprintframe is absolute garbage, durability wise.
They said the durabilty issue was a tear in the upper material…nothing about the sprintframe.
