Yesterday was the first official on pitch debuts of the new Adidas Predator X following it’s official release on Monday (October 26th). See which Barclays Premier League players sported the new cleats.
Berbatov played for Manchester Unitetd at Old Trafford in his new Predator X cleats and was joined by teammate Anderson although he wore the alternative colorway of White/Brown/Yellow. Notable absentee’s from the Adidas stable of Predator players was Robin van Persie who was still wearing his Adidas Predator PowerSwerve’s at the Emirates and Dirk Kuyt was also wearing the Predator X in Black/White/Red as his side, Liverpool, lost 3-1 against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Steven Gerrard the posterboy for the Adidas Predator X campaign missed the match due to injury.
Alongside goalscorer Dimitar Berbatov, the players that were wearing the new Predator X boot on its first showing were Anderson, Wes Brown and Antonio Valencia. This was a major coup for Adidas as Manchester United are sponsored by rival sports company Nike and to get four of the starting line up wearing a new launch football boot like the Adidas Predator X is a marketing mans dream. Berbatov scored the opening goal before being subbed in a match that United dominated but did not confirm the win until Wayne Rooney scored the second goal three minutes from time with a left foot shot, which happened to be teed up by a Predator wearer, Anderson.
Michael Ballack was wearing the new Adidas Predator X football boot in White/Brown/Yellow during his sides 4-0 away victory at Bolton today.(Saturday 31st October). This was the German international’s first time to wear the new Predator X in a competitive match although he had been spotted wearing the boot at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground in recent months. Ballack had a reasonably quiet performance in the 4-0 slaughter.
