Adidas Torfabrik Ball

After releasing the most controversial football in history, adidas have been more conservative with their more recent football releases, but technology is once again at the forefront of their design in the new Bundesliga ball. DFL unveiled the brand new Bundesliga match ball for the 2011-2012 season, the adidas Torfabrik football.

League president Dr. Reinhard Rauball and the CEO of adidas Herbert Hainer have unveiled the first ever official football for the Bundesliga which will be used in the upcoming season. They made the announcement from Germany’s headquarters and it is the first official football in the history of the Bundesliga. The design is centered around the official Bundesliga colours of white and red and will also feature a copy of the official league logo.

Cutting edge technology and elegant design combine perfectly in the official Bundesliga match ball for the 2011/12 season. The new ‘Torfabrik’ (English: ‘Goal Factory’) features a blue and red trim on a white background and has already been made available to every club in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.

adidas, the official manufacturers of the ball, announced in a press conference along with the DFL on Monday that the new ball is “at the pinnacle of world design”.

DFL Member of the Executive Board for Marketing and Communications Tom Bender explained why the new ball had been presented two days after the 2010/11 season finale: “We wanted to give the clubs enough time to get used to the new ball, what with the 2. Bundesliga starting so early next year.” Each of the 36 professional clubs across Germany’s top two tiers will receive a set of new balls in due course.

Freshly-crowned champion Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund was impressed after firing his first shot with the new ball straight into the top corner: “That ball could be my lucky charm.”

“The introduction of an official football is a big step forward for the Bundesliga. We will achieve a fair a level playing field whilst making the Bundesliga brand more tangible. Every fan now has the opportunity to take a piece of the Bundesliga home with them”,  stated Dr. Reinhard Rauball.

With this new ball adidas is underlining their position as the number one football brand in the world. ‘Torfabrik’ has provided adidas with an incredible opportunity to reinforce and develop their presence in the all important home country’s market”, explained Herbert Hainer, CEO of the adidas group.

Nice looking ball, too bad I don’t understand German.

  3. i just hope they don’t make it lighter,, because it’s getting ridiculous to be honest

  4. Daniel

The third picture looks completely different. It just looks like a Jabulani or SpeedCell with a different printed pattern. The panels are less pronounced, and different shapes to all the other pictures.

    What’s the deal?

  5. Tasos

Actually it seems really nice, don’t know why but it reminds me of Nike Tracer. Video would be great for someone who actually knows German

    • Hey Guys,

Yeah, the video is just there to help me learn a new language (bad joke I know)! I just find the testing very cool, so skip ahead to the middle and end segments of the video as some very cutting edge technology is used to develop these balls!

Something tells me that they’re gonna test the ball first in the Bundesliga before making it’s way into the world…like what they did with the jabulani

  7. Mike
