Adidas Unveil New Germany Kit and miCoach adiZero Video – The Best Commercial of the Year?

Let’s think of the best football advertisement videos in the past 10 years or so. Remember ‘Write the Future’ for the World Cup last year? Or the Guy Ritchie inspired ‘Take it to the next level’? Nearly all of the ‘Joga Bonito’ commercials? They were all classic videos.

But they all follow a similar pattern. All of them were made by Nike. Let’s face it, take away the ‘Nothing is Impossible’ video and adidas haven’t made many truly memorable videos. Mind you Nike pump way more money into advertising than adidas, which let’s them afford incredible videos. But adidas might have just produced the football commercial of the year.

To celebrate the release of the miCoach adiZero and the new Germany kit that will be used for the European Summer championships, adidas have released a new video that brings the two releases together (albeit the German kit appearing more than the boots). The video features a young footballer (looks like a young Toni Kroos or Thomas Mueller to me) making the trek from playing football in the local park to the German national team. But just in case the video isn’t seen as a copy of ‘Take it to the next level’, it’s done in reverse.

The video features most of the German players who endorse adidas boots. Lukas Podolski, Philip Lahm and co all make an appearance, even Joachim Loew makes a cameo appearance.

In a year where football advertisements haven’t been too good, this could be the contender for the video of the year. And it’s from adidas too! While we normally show videos just on our Facebook page (don’t forget to ‘like’ us if you haven’t already!), this one was just a bit too good to have on the page!

What do you think of adidas’ flashy new video? Could this be one of the best videos we’ve seen in the past 12 months?

@Yanis- Pretty sure thats not a real player (no number/not recognizable). Maybe a metaphor for the fan who wears that shirt, like you are part of the team.

I wish I could play soccer backwards.
