Arsenal 2012/2013 Nike Away Kit

Not only do we have new boot releases to contend with at the moment, but the new kit releases are coming in thick and fast as well. We saw Arsenal’s home kit for the new season a little while ago, now it is time to take a look at the kit we will see when Arsenal are away from the Emirates. Considering some of the bold moves that were made on the home kit, Nike are seemingly taking it one step further on the away kit.

It is always good to see a company be experimental when it comes to boots or jerseys, and it is something Nike have definitely done here with the new Arsenal 2012/13 away jersey. This is not the first purple football jersey we have seen so far, with Warrior Sports also producing a purple 3rd kit for Liverpool this season. This might be the last away jersey Nike produce for Arsenal, after we revealed that adidas may be producing kits for Arsenal as soon as next season. It will be interesting to see the reaction from Arsenal fans if this is what Nike are serving up as what could be the final Arsenal kit produced by the American sportswear giant.

The new away kit is made from Nike’s ground-breaking recycled polyester, making it Nike’s most environmentally friendly kit ever produced. Each kit (shirt and shorts) is made using up to thirteen recycled plastic water bottles. This innovative production process reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to the manufacture of traditional polyester. Nike has used an estimated 115 million recycled plastic bottles to create its high performance kits since 2010.

The kits are made out of 23% lighter fabric with 20% stronger knit structure than Nike’s previous kits and feature Nike Dri-FIT technology to wick moisture away from athletes to help keep them cool and dry on-pitch.

Kits have bonded re-enforced t-bar junctions that support critical seams on the shirt and shorts and inner welded seams with a flat finish construction to improve comfort and performance. Temperature regulation is helped by ventilation zones, consisting of a series of tiny laser cut holes from the under arms to the waistband, allowing air to circulate to keep players comfortable.

The new away kit goes on pre-sale tomorrow (the 13th of July), with a full retail launch expected for the 9th of August. What do you think about Arsenal’s new away kit?

hm….I really really loved the previous away kit, that was really cool.
this one….I like purple, but I don’t think it is a very good choice for arsenal…
And I also hate striped kits…so….in some way I like it because it’s something new, but all in all I don’t really like it. Unfortunately, I don’t like Arsenals new home kit either

practically a purple version of MU’s previous away kit. not bad, but not the best for Arsenal either.
