Arsenal set to sign £25 million shirt deal with adidas

Arsenal is preparing to end its 18 year association with Nike and sign a £25 million sponsorship deal with the company’s biggest rival, adidas.

Nike’s sponsorship of the London club is set to end following the 2013-14 season, and adidas is getting ready to swoop in and supply the Gunners with all of their apparel. If this deal does go through, Arsenal will earn almost double the £13 million a year they currently get from Nike.

In adidas’ audacious attempt to ‘own London,’ the German manufacturer is reportedly set to add both Arsenal and Fulham to its list of sponsored clubs, joining UEFA Champions League titleholders Chelsea. This would then leave Nike with only two EPL clubs; both the red and blue from Manchester (who will join the Nike ranks next season after ending its association with Umbro).

Arsenal currently are the third highest selling club (in terms of kits sold) on Nike’s books, only behind Barcelona and Manchester United at 800,000 kits a year. Should this deal go through, it will prove to be a huge loss to Nike and obviously a big acquisition for the Three Stripes.

What are the other EPL clubs currently wearing and where do they come from?

Arsenal – Nike (American)

Aston Villa – Macron (Italian)

Chelsea – Adidas (German)

Everton – Nike (American)

Fulham – Kappa (Italian)

Liverpool – Warrior (American)

Man City – Umbro (British)

Man United – Nike (American)

Newcastle – Puma (German)

Norwich – Errea (Italian)

QPR – Lotto (Italian)

Reading – Puma (German)

Southampton – Umbro (British)

Stoke – Adidas (German)

Sunderland – Adidas (German)

Swansea – Adidas (German)

Tottenham – Under Armour (American)

West Brom – Adidas (German)

West Ham – Macron (Italian)

Wigan – MiFIt (British)

As a gunner, i loved Nike’s partnership with Arsenal. Although many will disagree, i don’t like many of Adidas’ kits. A pity if this deal does go through.

adidas jerseys smell funny when i wear them even if i dont sweat

  5. adidas jerseys rip and tear way to easily, look great though, if adidas jerseys were made of the same material nike makes theirs out of, it would be amazing.

I love nike and I don’t think adidas will be a good fit because of the white sleeves that is the arsenal trademark. The three stripes on top of the white stripe will just look awful IMO

then you mention everton – nike in the list… so there’s 3…
