The PEP Talk: BodyScience Half Quad Shorts Review

For the past 3 weeks, I have been putting a couple of Body Science’s  compression top and half quad shorts to the test by using them in the gym, on the field, and on the running track. Today we’ll be focusing on the Half Quad shorts to see how they fared, and if they lived up to Body Science’s claims about them. Thanks to Selasi from Body Science for making this review possible.

Intro/Design

As a sportsman, I find that the most important gear in my bag when doing any exercise involving my lower body are compression shorts. Almost all professional athletes wear compression shorts and that emphasizes how important they really are. BSC’s compression shorts are one of the most visible garments out there with hundreds of professional athletes wearing them in Australia. Design wise, these are probably my favorite looking compression shorts. They are completely unique design wise, and when you see your favorite sports stars wearing them it makes you want to own a pair too. BSc’s logo on the front right is extremely visible and if you watch the NRL in Australia you will see a majority of the players wearing these shorts, along with A-League team players from Perth Glory and Sydney FC.

Overall, they are my favorite looking compression shorts on the market.

Fit/Performance

Not only do I really like how the shorts look, they also fit and performed really well. The materials used on BodyScience’s compression shorts are thicker and less strechy than other shorts on the market,  something that I personally prefer. They fit really nice and tightly, and give you exactly what you want from a compression short. BSC say its products are made with ‘Targeted Compression’, and this is no lie. In certain areas, the fit is definitely tighter, and ensures that certain muscles in your leg won’t fatigue and invariably cramp up.

Value

At 79.95 AUD ($83.1 US) these shorts are in the same price range as what I believe are the other two best compression brands in the world Skins and 2XU. These shorts should last you a long time too as the material is thick and not likely to rip.  It is a slight inconvenience that you are advised to hand wash and air dry the shorts rather than just throw them into the machine, but in return for doing so, I expect that they’ll last for a longer time than they would if I didn’t follow the recommend wash instructions.

To conclude the BodyScience Half Quad shorts are my favorite pair of compression shorts in my closet. For all my big games, I will definitely be choosing these to wear. They look great, most importantly fit great and feel like they will last for a long time.
