Christmas saw all of us enjoy the company of friends, family and the inlaws that some of us may despise. Now it’s over, we got back to a Boxing Day feast of football as a full round of English Premier League was played, with Soccer Reviews sourcing the best boot spots from this week’s action. With a few boot spots from some of the matches played prior to Christmas Day thrown in, which boot spots were good enough to make our stringent screening process?
Dimitar Berbatov (Manchester United) – adidas Predator adiPower
Mancchester United won 5-0 on the weekend. But it wasn’t your usual suspects of Wayne Rooney or Chicharito who caused all of the damage. Berbatov backed up his sweet backheel last week with a hat-trick against Wigan, all of it in his Black/Warning adiPowers.
Andres Iniesta (FC Barcelona) – Nike CTR360 Maestri II
Even though the new Blue/White CTR360 Maestri II colourway was available for Nike contracted footballers to wear last week, Iniesta strangely didn’t wear them at the Club World Cup final last week. But Iniesta pulled out the new CTR360 colourway as his Barcelona side thrashed a hapless L’Hospitalet 9-0, despite Messi being rested. Plus it’s an exquisite match with the Barcelona kit too!
Gervinho (Arsenal) – Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly III

We’ve seen plenty of players in Nike’s new Midnight Purple Mercurial colourway, but we haven’t seen anybody in the sleek White/Blue Mercurial colourway. Gervinho is one of those players who have chosen the purple colourway and he hasn’t followed another trend that some Mercurial players are taking, disguising their boots as the new Vapor VIII.
Jason Hoffman (Melbourne Heart) – Nike T90 Laser IV KL
When we first saw the Red/White T90 Laser IV, we were convinced that it was a colourway made for Wayne Rooney. But Rooney ditched the colourway in favour for the synthetic Black/Pink edition. Jason Hoffman, along with team mate Mate Dugandzic, made themselves the first professionals to give the Red/White T90 Laser IV KL their on pitch debut. It’s easy to see why, as it’s a perfect match with the kit worn by that other team in Melbourne.
Paul Gallagher (Leicester City) – adidas Predator adiPower DB
We know a lot of players admire Beckham, and this often translates to copying the boots worn by the man. Paul Gallagher might just be one of those players, as he wore the regal gold DB adiPower. With a synthetic upper, it’s actually lighter than the regular adiPower and still carries the Predator name with it.
Fernando Torres (Chelsea) – Nike T90 Laser IV KL
We thought Torres would eventually make an appearance in Kanga-Lite T90 Laser IVs, but he’s worn the headline synthetic version since the release of the boot. Torres finally made the move to the Kanga-Lite edition this week. But it didn’t make him the first professional to wear them, as they featured in the A-League first a few days earlier.
Carlos Hernandez (Melbourne Victory) – adidas adiPower SL
We seem to feature the A-League a lot on the boot spotting articles, but when they throw up boot spots like this, it’s easy to understand why! Super dooper Carlos Hernandez (he’s a god to Melbourne Victory fans) became the first ever professional spotted in the Phantom/Slime adiPower SL. Even though Hernandez missed a penalty during the game, he still dominated the game and scored a cracking free kick in the final few minutes of the game.
Johan Djourou (Arsenal) – Puma PowerCat 1.12
We’ve seen a lot of players in the new PowerCat 1.12, but almost everybody has gone for the headline White/Blue colourway. Johan Djourou went against the grain and went for the white-out edition of the boot, which were available on a very limited basis to the general public last month.
Jonas Salley (Gold Coast) – Lotto Zhero Evolution
Even though Jonas Salley has been wearing Lotto Zero Gravity boots for a little while, his boot switch this week has left us a little bit confused. Thankfully, the sharp eyes of Mads picked out Salley’s boots as the Lotto Zhero Evolution, a boot dating back to 2006 and was worn by Petr Cech prior to his move to adidas.
You may have noticed something a little different on our boot spotting this week. Considering this is my first attempt at images like this, some feedback on them will be appreciated. What was your favourite spot this week? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below

jonas salley is wearing old lotto zhero?
Jonas Salley is wearing Lotto Zhero Evolution from around 2006, a boot also worn by Petr Cech when he was with Lotto: http://www.wldcup.com/pictures/wld2006/0606/pic682.jpg (picture from the world cup 2006)
That is spot on, Mads. Those were seriously nice boots, by the way.
Ritchie de laet was wearing adipower db for Norwich against tottenham
A lot of these are boot spots from Soccerbible
Wow, not cool. They don’t tell you what time the article was posted on the site, but they posted their article to their Facebook page 7 hours ago. Ours was posted to Facebook 8 hours ago. You should be saying it’s the other way around. Please take a look at the times articles were posted before you say something like that.
To be fair, the boot spotting was very difficult this week, as we could only source our boot spots from the A-League, EPL and Championship. There was always going to be a few similar spots
Drogba at the tottenham game switched from the Midnight Purple Mercurials to the Volt ones after half time.
torres wore the first headline colorway mainly because it was white and he only wears white football boots. he says anything else is as if you are wearing trainers with a suit.
i think you wrong dude, torres not only wear white. he wear antoher, but he doesn’t like black shoes
Guys, soccerbible isn’t as personal or caring as soccer reviews. On this website, they actually care about what we think, not just pump out bootspottings every week and feature the newest cleats. Soccerreviews is the exclusive place to get pics of unreleased boots, kits and balls. They have great reviews on cleats, balls, even mouth-guards! Although they don’t get as much popularity as soccerbible does, I don’t care. I love my soccer reviews staff.
Thanks Omar for the support! We love our Soccer Reviews’ readers! Just out of curiosity, are you interested in submitting a sample article? If not, I understand, but we’d love to have you on board, even if it’s being a moderator on our soon to be launched forums!
