Our first boot spotting on our new site! And unlike other football sites, we don’t do the same boot spots every week. So let’s kick it off with some unique spots that we saw on the weekend.
Marco Ruben (Barcelona vs Villareal) – Adidas F50i Messi edition
Who doesn’t like a retro boot spot to start up with? And just like when Messi used to wear them, it seems that Ruben has got his made to not have the Tunit stud system, but rather an F30 soleplate. Just to think that when this boot was released, Nike dominated the speed boot market. How times change.
Gerard Pique (Barcelona training session) – Tiempo IV?
Soccerreviews.com reader Raffer claims that this could be the Tiempo IV and he could have a good shout here. While it is very hard to tell with these pictures, it is a general rule of thumb that blackout football boots could be prototype models of football boots. We know that they have Flywire technology so Nike will have to put extra testing into the Tiempo IV.
Brian Ching (Houston Dynamo vs New York Red Bulls) – Puma V1.10
Houston Dynamo captain Brian Ching wore one of the original colourways of the V1.10. It’s pretty interesting to see that Ching has stuck by these boots even though there have been many V1.10 colourways that have come and gone and he still sticks with one of the original colourways.
Alberto Pizarro (Real Madrid vs Sporting Gijon) – Adidas something
Blimey these look old! I don’t know what they are, but the look to be at least 5 years old. They almost look like blue and yellow Cope Mundials. We may have to ask some of our older soccerreviews.com readers here to clarify what they are!
Emilio Renteria (Philadelphia Union v Columbus Crew) – Nike Tiempo III
While these are blackout boots, we’re fairly sure these aren’t the Tiempo IV, simply because this boot has a fold over tongue. The Tiempo IV doesn’t have a fold over tongue, hence why Pique could be wearing Tiempo IVs.
Alan Gordon (Chivas USA vs Toronto FC) – Puma V1.08
I know that people may not like boot spots from the MLS, but it’s more interesting than boot spots in the EPL! These silver Puma V1.08s are a real blast from the past and it’s a wonder how Gordon has kept these boots in such good condition for so long.
Herman Crespo (Parma FC vs FC Bari) – Adidas Predator PowerSwerve
The PowerSwerves have always been a favourite amongst footballers thanks to it’s foldover tongue and the power pulse, which used to be more popular than the Powerspine in the Predator X when it was first released.
Yaya Toure (Manchester City vs Sunderland) – Adidas Predator X
Football forums have been buzzing about Yaya Toure supposedly wearing Adidas AdiPowers on the weekend against Sunderland. In my opinion, I think they are wrong. These cleats have off centre lacing. The Adidas AdiPower boots that we’ve seen all have centralised lacing. What do you think?
That’s it for this weekend’s boot spotting. Did you see any unique spots we missed? You can expect to see a boot spotting post in the regards to the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals, so stay tuned.

Alberto Pizarro is wearing an old pair of Profi’s.
toure is wearing the world cup laser III, has has been wearing them on and off all season – you can tell by the colour of the tongue section. new site is decent by the way! keep up the good work.
Couldn’t Yaya be wearing T90?
Yaya definetly wears t90s white orange black colourway
I see someone beat me to the spot but yeah Pizzarro is wearing the adidas profi liga…they still sell them at some sites…also renteria is wearing the Tiempo legend II not III.If you look closely at the tongue and the stitching you can tell the difference.
