Every off-season, teams trade players in and out, to what they think will benefit the team as a whole. Although there were hundreds of trades this year, I am only going to talk about, what I think, are the biggest and best trades by European clubs this summer.
- Ronaldinho- Barcelona to A.C. Milan. An amazing soccer player, who has been FIFA World Player of the Year two times, World Champion once, a Ch
ampions League champion, and a La Liga champion multiple times. He had had a string of bad performances lately for his previous club Barcelona, but I believe moving to A.C. Milan will give him a new place to shine and develop. I think this trade benefitted both Ronaldinho and A.C. Milan, yet it crippled Barcelona. - Deco- Barcelona to Chelsea. I believe this was a huge trade for the soccer world, not only due to Deco’s immense skill, but also for two entirely different reasons.
- Barcelona had already made a flurry of trades, including the talented Ronaldinho, and I believe the trades prior to Deco’s had already left Barcelona a crippled team, without him and the role he had played for the team, I am not sure how Barcelona will fare next season.
- With this trade, Chelsea are again adding to their pool of player skill, and also increasing their chances of winning silverware. I believe he will play a vital role in Chelsea’s midfield next season, and help topple Manchester United as league champions.
3. Robbie Keane- Tottenham to Liverpool. I feel the greatest foward in the English Premier League is Robbie Keane. He has speed, agility, technique, and mostly, hustle. He can create chances when there appear to be none, score goals that just can’t be scored. Here are my thoughts on his trade.
- Tottenham made a mistake letting this fascinating player go to Liverpool, who I feel was not only the club’s captain, he was also their best player. And to Liverpool, this is the best signing you have made for several years now.
- I feel that if Rafa Benitez and Liverpool let Robbie Keane play, he will deliver goals like there is no tomorrow. Just let the boy play, and he will deliver to your highest expectations.
- With this trade, I think Liverpool dramatically increased their chances of winning both Premier League, and Champions League. This was a great signing for Liverpool.
Well, those were my top three transfers of the year for all European Clubs. Well done in these fabulous signings!!!
