English Premier League 2012/13 Kit Guide

With the 2012/13 English Premier League just around the corner Soccer Reviews is here to provide you with your quick guide to the kits that each team will be wearing next season. Note: We’ve included all the third kits that have been released, but some clubs recycle last season’s away as their third.

Arsenal

Home

Arsenal’s latest home kit features the traditional red kit with white sleeves but with a twist. Nike have (to the displeasure of many Arsenal fans) added a red and navy blue stripe on each sleeve, in what’s meant to give a modern edge to a traditional jersey. For more images and information on Arsenal’s home kit check out our detailed post here.

Away

Arsenal’s away kit boasts a striking purple and black hooped design with red trimming on each of the sleeves. It’s a unique away kit, and one that has definitely divided opinion among Arsenal fans. For more on the away kit, check out our detailed post.

Aston Villa

Home

Macron stepped into the void left by Nike and came out with an unsurprising Aston Villa home kit. The latest kit features nothing out of the ordinary and remains faithful to the claret and blue tradition the club has. For more on the home jersey check out this post.

Away

Villa’s away kit is a little more ‘out there’ than the home. Featuring a bright lime green base colour, we reckon it’ll most certainly stand out on pitch.  For more on the away kit, including the technology behind it, check out this post.

Chelsea

Home

Champions of Europe, Chelsea, unveiled the kit they’ll be wearing in the 2012/13 season before last season ended. It’s a great looking kit, featuring the traditional blue, along with a a gold trim and a watermarked pattern across the body of the kit. For more on the Chelsea kit check out this post.

Away

Chelsea’s away kit is predominantly white with a light blue stripe running diagonally down the kit. Among other things it features the first ever fading three stripe design on an adidas kit. For more on the away kit check this out.

Everton

Home

Everton’s deal with Le Coq Sportif ended at the end of last season, and the club opted to go with Nike as their new kit manufacturer. The new Everton home kit is predominantly blue with a band of white on either sleeve and a v-neck collar. See more about the kit here.

Away

Compared with a fairly average home kit, Everton’s all black away kit is stunning! Featuring a classic design with a base colour of black and gold detailing, this is one of the best kits you’ll see this season in the Premier League. More on the kit can be found here.

Third

An all white Everton third kit is expected to be released in the near future.

Fulham

Home

Fulham have opted for the striped design for this season’s kit and while I personally am not a huge fan of it, the reaction from fans has, by in large, been positive.

Away

Fulham’s away kit is predominantly orange with black sides and sleeves and white detailing. It’s an interesting effort from Kappa, with some even going as far as labeling it a 65 pound prison outfit.

Liverpool

Home

After their deal with adidas expired, Liverpool signed on with Warrior Sports to produce the club’s 2012/13 kits. The home kit has a whole host of small iconic additions including the return of the Liverbird as the crest on the kit. It’s a retro looking kit that’s a solid release from Warrior. For more on the kit check out this post.

Away

The away kit takes inspiration from Liverpool’s 1900-1906 away kit which featured the yoke design. It’s a little out of the ordinary, but it’s good to see Warrior straying away from the usual kind of kits we see! More about the kit here.

Third

Liverpool’s third kit has divided opinion among the Anfield faithful with some calling it pointless because it’s similar in colour to the away kit. Regardless, the kit features a purple base with orange and white detailing and takes inspiration from a previous away kit. See more about the kit here.

Manchester City

Home

Umbro’s last set of kits for Manchester City are arguably some of the best they’ve made. City’s home kit, as expected, is predominantly sky blue. The kit also features black detailing and a polo-esque collar. For more on the kit check this post out.

Away

The maroon away kit is super classy and takes inspiration from the kit worn in City’s victorious 1956 FA Cup Final. The yellow detailing, v-neck collar and stripes really enhances the look of this kit. Check out more on the kit here.

Manchester United

Home

United’s home kit has been laughed at by some for it’s ‘tablecloth’-esque design, while others have taken to it. The collection has been dubbed the ‘Gingham’ collection and is meant to pay tribute to the city’s past. Check out more about the kit here.

Away

While it hasn’t be released yet, United’s away kit is slated to be unveiled soon.  The kit is expected to be predominantly white with red trim on the sleeves and collar. The shorts are in keeping with the design of the home kit as they are checkered.

Newcastle United

Home

While Newcastle’s home kit hasn’t officially been released yet, the club wore it during their first pre-season friendly of the year against Germany club, Chemnitzer. The new kit features the usual black and white stripes we’re used to seeing, but this year around there are more stripes and the white is a lot more pronounced than it was last season.

Away

Newcastle’s away kit was released before the end of last season. The kit is predominantly ‘burgundy’ and features a black panel and trimming on the sleeves.

Norwich City

Home

Norwich’s latest home kit isn’t much different from what they wore last season. The only differences we can spot out is the removal of the green trim on the sleeves, and a new collar.

Queens Park Rangers

Home/Away

QPR’s home kit features, as expected, a blue and white hooped design. The away kit is predominantly red with white panels on various parts of the kit and both feature a v-neck collar.

Third

QPR’s new third kit boasts the same design as the away kit but in a different colour, sky blue. It’s certainly a smart looking kit from Lotto!

Reading

Home

While Reading’s home kit boasts the same colours as QPR’s, we prefer Puma’s attempt at the blue/white hooped design over Lottos. It’s a great looking kit and you can find out more about it here.

Away

Reading’s away kit is predominantly yellow, with blue detailing and a v-neck colour. It’s a good looking away kit for the Championships 2011/12 champions and, and you can find more about it here.

Southampton

Home

The Saints have radically altered their home kit ahead of their first season back in the Premier League. Rather than the red and white striped design we’re used to seeing, Umbro have come out with a predominantly red kit with very thin white stripes. It’s definitely a good looking kit, find out more about it here.

Away

The away kit is also pretty good looking. It’s predominantly white with red detailing and narrow stripes going down the kit and is styled similarly to the home kit. Check out more about it here.

Stoke City

Home

With a new sponsor, bet365, Stoke’s commemorative 150th anniversary home kit  is pretty great looking. It features an 1863-2013 timeline on the back neck of the kit among other things.

Away

Designed to mark the club’s 150th year anniversary, Stoke’s away kit is classed as ‘navy and cardinal’. The colours were first worn in 1863 by Stoke City’s predecessors the Stoke Ramblers and is a good looking kit from adidas.

Sunderland

Home

Adidas have come out with a great looking new home kit for Sunderland. Featuring the typical red and white stripes we’re used to seeing from the black cats, the kit also boasts a v-neck collar and ClimaCool technology.

Away

Sunderland’s away kit is the first that the club has had produced by adidas. As well as a new kit manufacturer, the Black Cat’s also have a new sponsor in the form of “Invest in Africa”. The kit itself is blue with a turquoise trim.

Swansea City

Home

Swansea City were the surprise package for most during last season’s Premier League campaign. This season the Swans will be looking to improve on their respectable 11th place finish in this brilliant looking new kit. Designed to mark the club’s 100th year, the new kit is almost Real Madrid-esque thanks to it being gold and white.

Away

Swansea’s away kit is a tribute to Wales. The kit is in the colours of the Welsh flag and as a result is red with a green trim. Two really great kits from adidas for the Swans!

Tottenham Hotspur

Home

This year marks Tottenham Hostpur’s first with American company Under Armour. Their home kit is fully white, a change from the blue shorts the club normally wears, and  features a polo-style collar. For more on the kit see this post.

Away

Spurs’ away kit is fully blue and rather than the polo collar seen on the home kit, instead features a v-neck. Under Armour certainly haven’t looked to pull any punches with this latest set of kits as while they are good looking, they’re nothing out of the ordinary. For more on the away kit check out this post.

Third

Yet to be released, the third kit is rumoured to feature a weird design with white/black stripes and yellow trimming.

West Bromwich Albion

Home

West Brom’s home kit is a bit different from last season’s. Most notably, Zoopia have been brought in as the club’s newest kit sponsor and adidas have opted for a v-neck collar.

Away

No news yet on the away kit.

West Ham United

Home

West Ham’s home kit features the traditional claret blue body with light blue sleeves and detailing on the collar. The kit features a corean collar, and is a solid effort by Macron. For more on the home kit check out this post.

Away

West Ham’s away kit has been marketed as “more than a football kit”. It is predominantly navy blue in colour, while the collar is claret and blue.

Wigan Athletic

Home

Wigan unveiled their home kit before the season ended and actually wore it against Wolves last season. The kit in part commemorates the clubs 80th year and marks the return to stripes.

Away

Wigan join Everton with a black away kit. The yellow on the kit provides a great contrast to the black, and we’re loving what Mi-Fit have come out with for the Latics.

While not all of the kits have been released for next season, you can be sure that as and when they do get released Soccer Reviews will have all the information and imagery. For now, which team has produced the best kits for next season? Leave your answers in the section below!
