We asked and you guys gave the verdict. Welcome to the best goals of the previous season. This new series will highlight some of the most memorable goals throughout previous tournaments and seasons. As always, we will take your suggestions into consideration for the next instalment, but for now, sit back and relive these goals in all their respective glory.
2010/2011:
Dejan Stankovic – Inter Milan vs. Schalke (UEFA Champions League)
Well… it’s a volley… from around the half-line mark. This goal was always going to claim a place as one of the best of the previous season without a shadow of a doubt. Stankovic’s striking technique is simply unparalleled.
Wayne Rooney – Manchester United vs. Manchester City (Barclays Premier League)
Could we really leave this gem out? Many players are criticised for not producing the goods when it comes to crunch matches due to their significance and fortunately, Rooney was on hand to provide this sublime goal last February.
Paulo Ferrari – River Plate vs. Quilmes A.C. (Torneo Clausura)
If we recall correctly, not many viewers witnessed this sublime team goal, so here it is! This goal is the epitome of teamwork, patience and ball retention as it added the gloss to a move which amassed 25 passes before the ball finally found the back of the net! Barcelona who?
Fredy Guarin – F.C. Porto vs. Maritimo (Portuguese Liga)

The reaction from Guarin himself says it all if we’re honest. This thunderbolt is a goal of the highest degree. Hell, everyone dreams of sending one of these canons into the top corner whilst they play a match but unfortunately, that rarely transpires.
Matty Burrows – Glentoran vs. Portadown (IFA Premiership)
We wouldn’t blame you if you asked exactly who this team is, as they play their trade in Northern Ireland! Identities aside, the flick is simply mesmerising and this probably won’t be repeated any time soon.
Hamit Altintop – Turkey vs. Kazakhstan (Euro 2012 Qualifiers)
A thunderous volley is always a magnificent goal, and that’s exactly what Altintop’s effort is. What is almost as impressive as the goal itself is the technique and preparation involved which is as crucial as making contact with the ball in the first place.
Gareth Bale – Tottenham vs. Inter Milan (UEFA Champions League)
The Welsh winger really rose to prominence last season and this goal at the San Siro illustrates why he is so praised and consequently feared by defenders throughout the world. Also, the fact that he managed to slot the ball home from a tight angle, let alone rip up half the pitch with his blistering pace further adds to his appeal. Jordon will be glad to watch this again!
There is no denying that those goals were sheer bliss for several reasons. In our next edition, we’ll showcase some of the best goals that graced the 2010 World Cup. Tell us what goals you would like to see in that edition and why! Was your favourite goal in this edition?

Just a heads up: The Altintop goal video is actually a video of Bale’s goal.
Awesome goals: Altintop and Bale
stankovic for technique
guarin for brilliance
No Neymar v Flamengo or Messi v Arsenal? Amazing.
