Our last boot spotting on the old site! We had to give the forever popular boot spotting articles one last hurrah until we settle into our new home at soccerreviews.com (actually you can take a little peek at the new site now;)) We’ve got some stock standard spots as well as one or two unique ones from various football games played in the last few days.
Andreas Iniesta (Spain vs Czech Republic) – CTR 360 Maestri II
A few weeks ago, we were alerted by a SER reader that Iniesta has a unusual sole plate on his CTR 360 Maestris. This picture gives us a good view of his sole and it’s definitely unusual. We’re fairly sure it isn’t a regular non-Elite version of the Maestris, but it also looks like he might even have a heel counter on his boot, something not normally featured on the CTR 360 Maestri. We’ll tell you more when we find out more about these boots.
Darren Bent (Wales vs England) – Umbro Speciali
I might be putting my neck on the line here, but I think Darren Bent is wearing the Umbro Speciali as he continued his outstanding goal scoring form for the Three Lions in their 2-0 win against the Welsh at the Millennium stadium.
Roberto Carlos (Zenit vs FC Anzhi) – Mizuno Morelia
Well that’s not a foul! These blue Mizuno Morelia’s have a famous reputation amongst South American footballers thanks to it’s kangaroo leather upper and also it’s pretty light weight, a bit like the Adipure SL.
Scott Parker (Wales vs England) – ?????
I have absolutely no idea what Scott Parker is wearing here. The tongue could suggest it’s a blackout Puma King but I’m really not too sure. I’ve posted two different angles and I’ll let the readers debate about this one.
Mauro Rosales (Houston Dynamo vs Seattle Sounders) -Â F50 Tunit
Cracking little retro boot spot by Jose Reyes here. Everyone likes a retro boot spot and this one is a classic. These boots are over 3 seasons old and Rosales has done really well to preserve these boots in top condition.
Jason Garey (Houston Dynamo vs Seattle Sounders) – Under Armour Blur Pro
Jose Reyes is at it again! This time with an unreleased UA boot which was exclusively revealed on SER this month. Designed for direction changes and acceleration, we may start to see more football boots from the compression gear company in the future.
Antonio Cassano (Italy vs Slovenia) – Diadora Kobra K-Pro
Another quirky boot spot. We rarely see the Diadoras on our boot spotting and here’s Italy striker Cassano giving Diadora some much needed exposure. The Kobra features a 100% Kangaroo leather and features that enhance a player’s first touch.
Javier Martina (Portland Timbers vs Toronto FC) – Nike Mercurial Superfly II
Â
While it may not seem like much, it seems that Martina has tried to personalize his cactus Superflys! He’s tried to use a texta to make it a blackout boot. I don’t think it looks right but let’s hope it’s what he intended!
That’s it for this week’s boot spotting. What do you think Scott Parker is wearing above?

scott parkere wears blackout laser iii and has for some time now
T90 laser iii. The panels are visible on the second photo
great spotting! one thing about the new site is it just me or is the text a little hard to read?
for Iniesta’s boots im thinking nike is trying to make a sprintframe of their own looks like this could be a prototype? cant wait for more info
Hey Brady
That’s what I was going to say. Fantastic point. I think I’ve seen another player wearing a similar sole and I think that’s on the agenda. Look out for an article where we have an in-depth look at the sole plate
Iniesta is only wearing the maestri with the tiempo soleplate. nothing special.
Mascherano was also wearing the same sole plate as iniesta when argentina faced USA. I very much doubt that both iniesta and mascherano have suddenly decided to wear a tiempo soleplate. Too much of a coincidence if you ask me. Wouldnt be suprised if nike has gone to barcelona and asked the stars to try this out. Could be their answer to sprint frame, who knows….
Well to be honest if Nike came out with their own version of sprint frame, to me that would be totally unoriginal. Then again though it could be just the players preference that the boots be like that. Also glad to see my spots made it in their.
For Iniesta, he’s wearing a Mecurial Vapor VI soleplate with his non-Elite CTR360′s. They showed a slow-motion of him being fouled and it’s very clear that it’s the Vapor soleplate. And Darren Bent is wearing the Umbro Speciali R’s SER had on preview. You can see the R barely on his right boot.
I can’t see the point in Nike trying to make their own sprintframe when their Superfly carbon fiber outsole is way better, at least from my point of view.
Iniesta is not wearing sprintframe or tiempo sole plate it is just a Hard ground sole plate that only the pros can get. Evra gets this sole plate on his T90′s sometimes too
At first look, I thought it was a traditional six-stud soft ground sole. The soleplate on Iniesta, however, is actually quite old. In the training pictures, he is wearing what looks like the old T90 Laser II studs. Back in Euro 2008, when the Laser II’s were just released, I noticed that a number of professionals (particularly in the Spanish squad, who I focused on during the tourney) were wearing clear soleplates and tended to have conical studs for their matches. If you look at training pictures for Manchester United players, most of them have a similar set up. Paul Scholes was for me the most noticeable. I doubt that they are anything groundbreaking or new for Nike. It doesn’t make sense, especially after their Elite series.
And Beast from the East, great spot on the Bent boots. They are in fact Speciali R’s. A number of England players have been training in that this week, including Michael Dawson, Joe Hart, and Darren Bent. The key visible differences between the Speciali Statements and the new R boot are the absence of the tongue and the Tiempo-esque lines on the heel.
Scott Parker wear’s Pantofola d’Oro (italian for golden slipper) Lazzarini’s
you can find them on pro-direct
Alot of great player’s wore these boot’s back in the day

In this picture, you can kinda see the Vapor soleplate on the right boot.

I think this is the clearest with the right boot again showing the translucent/transparent Vapor-type bladed studs. But now that I’m looking up different pictures of Iniesta during this game, I think he wore two different types of cleats: one with Tiempo-type studs, and another with Vapor-type studs.
Scott Parker is wearing the new all black predator x, you can faintly see the stripes on the side when you zoom in, also the ping pong like grip area is also visible when zoomed in
Drew, Scott Parker is actually wearing a pair of black-out t90 III’s. You can see the pods on the second picture. You can also see the criss cross stitching in the front of the boots in the first & second pictures.
Also (search for Scott Parker)………

LOL.
“Make no mistake, Pantofola d’Oro football boots may look like museum pieces, but the boots are engineered for the modern game – just ask the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa, Damien Duff and Scott Parker, who have all recently been spotted wearing the old-school boots! When you buy a pair of Pantofola d’Oro football boots, you’re guaranteed quality as each pair is hand-made in the last remaining boot factory in Italy. ”
