It’s been a bit of a shinguard themed couple of days here at Soccer Reviews. Following our review of the C6 Agility Shinpads, we’ve just received two pairs of carbon fiber shinguards from Italian company, GL Sport, one of which I had the opportunity to personalize. Thanks to Luca for making this review possible!
GL Sport offer customizable carbon fiber shinguards. Using their website you can add images, text and other effects onto the front of your shinguards and also choose the colour of the foam padding on the back of the shinguard. We’ll be posting a full rundown on how we found the whole process to be in our review of the shinguards, but in short I was pretty happy with how my design came out.
The design of the GL Sport ElitePro that I customized (the company sells two other products) seems to be printed onto the carbon fiber. However, it doesn’t look like the design is easily removable, or can be peeled off. The customized GL Sport ElitePro will cost you 79 Euro, or 96 USD meaning that while you do get the chance to add a cool design onto them, they aren’t cheap by any stretch of the imagination.
On the back of each shinguard is a piece of neoprene foam that has been added to provide a more comfortable fit. While it’s a necessary addition, from the off, the foam backing seems to be too large, and doesn’t look like its been stuck onto the carbon fiber very securely – we’ll definitely keep an eye on the durability of the foam as we test these shinguards out.
We also received a standard, non-customized, pair of the ElitePro for comparison sake. This pair is a little bit wider than the pair we customized as the ElitePro comes in two different sizes, but apart from that and the customization the two are identical. A regular pair of the ElitePro costs 59 Euro or 72 USD.
We’ll be testing out both pairs and should have a review of the GL Sport Shinguards up in the near future. In the meantime, check out GL Sport’s website!

This practically starts an SR search for the most cheaply priced pair of carbon fiber shinpads Would love to invest in a pair.
