It was only a matter of time before the world’s best player was rewarded with a brand name and logo of his own, and now adidas have done just that for Lionel Messi!
Lionel Messi has now been elevated to the marketing status of David Beckham, one of the only other few players in the world to have a sub brand of their own! Only time will tell how much adidas stress this new line, but at first glance it looks very promising and dare I say… hip.
The logo is very superhero-esque, which isn’t too far from Messi’s description, and you can expect to see his new adidas F50 adiZero MiCoach customized with the new logo, akin to adidas DB Predators.
In the accompanying viral video, it shows clips from the Argentina vs Nigeria match during which Messi took everyone by surprise by debuting the unreleased adidas F50 adiZero MiCoach football boots. A theory that’s being passed around in the Soccer Reviews back office is that the match was staged solely for the purpose of getting game footage for the boots, and if that’s too far of a stretch, then that is the reason the boots were debuted in such an obscure environment.

I don’t think we will see many or just any one who would be able to match Beckham’s status.
