With only two days to go until the close of the transfer window, Liverpool have completed a last minute signing of Portuguese national, Raul Meireles for £11.5 million. Meireles featured in every one of Portugal’s World Cup matches this past summer, as well as all twelve of their qualifying matches.
The 27 year old has won 4 league titles in a row with FC Porto, while also picking up 3 Super Cups and 3 Portuguese Cup medals on the way. Raul is also flexible when it comes to positions, having been used as a left-back, center midfield player and even a right winger.
“Liverpool are a historic club and I am happy for the move. Roy Hodgson was key because he worked so hard to get me,” Meireles told the Liverpool website.
“It has been a long time coming but finally I have achieved my dream of playing in England.”
