Mancini: Liverpool Could Win Title

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini believes Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool have what it takes to finish first in this year’s Premier League campaign.

City, who secured last year’s Premier League title on the final day of the season, travel to Merseyside on Sunday to take on a refurbished Liverpool side, complete with new players and a new manager.

Despite their heavy loss to West Brom last weekend, Liverpool may be ready to mount a fresh challenge for the league title, says Mancini.

”I think Liverpool will fight for the title this year because they bought good players, they have a good manager, they change their style of play,” the Italian said.

The 47-year-old former Inter boss went on to claim that Liverpool didn’t deserve to lose their opening game of the season, and that his side’s trip to Anfield will prove to be quite difficult.
“Every game we play at Anfield is really tough. For us it will be a difficult game. Also because they come from a game against West Bromwich where probably they didn’t deserve to lose but football is strange.”
The Reds have been waiting 22 long years for the chance to once again lift the Premier League trophy, but if Mancini is correct, their wait for a 19th trophy might finally be over.
