Neymar Trains In Strange Blackout Prototype Boots

There’s always a strong air of intrigue around a blackout boot spot, especially when it’s in a training session. Which is why we were very interested with the brilliant boot spot sent in by Bruno Ramos, which depicts Neymar wearing some very strange blackout boots. Soccer Reviews is the first to the ball with these special photos. The mystery has been solved! These are the Nike Green Speeds, check out more about them here.

Considering that Neymar is one of the faces of Nike’s Mercurial range, it’s a decent justification to assume that Neymar is testing out some new Mercurials for Nike. It’s hard, however, to say what type of Mercurial he is actually testing. We do, however, have two potential predictions for what he’s wearing. While it could be the Vapor 9, initial leaked images show a boot radically different to the one Neymar is wearing, so it maybe a Mercurial model beyond the Vapor 9 that will be released very early next year.

There’s definitely some different things about Neymar’s blackout Mercurial prototypes. Perhaps the two most obvious differences are the upper and the soleplate. We can’t say with 100% certainty what the upper is, but it is looking like a synthetic upper, perhaps a redesign of the ultra-thin Teijin synthetic leather found on the Vapor VIII, which has some durability issues. Plus the soleplate, especially near the heel, looks very, very thick. It’s interesting to note that these look very similar to the Vapor prototypes that leaked out a couple months ago, and from close up photos that we saw of them they did have Nike’s Flyknit technology. Because of that we believe that the areas in between the shiny tape like material is actually Flyknit.

We’re going to keep looking out for more photos of these (very interesting) blackout boots. Until then, we’re going to go out on a limb and say Neymar is not wearing Vapor 9 prototypes, but perhaps an early prototype for some Vapors we’re going to see late next year or in 2014. What do you think they are?

Nike mercurial Superfly for 2014? The pictures that gunt has, the boots reminds me of the f50 leather boots, the toe of the boot is leather for that feel on the ball, then the rest of the boot is made of the light material! But this does look exciting times for Nike!!!!

  6. Mohd Hazman

I think he is testing Vapor VIII but in the new Kangaroo-Leather material

  7. I think what’s more interesting is the socks he’s wearing… What are they?

VI am more interested to see if they release them as a Kanga-lite version of the 8 or as the new Vapor 9s. My money would be on the former since the soleplate is staying the same. I would be intereseted in getting these when they come out; they should be pretty light with the Flyknit integration.
