It is a while till we expect to see the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX officially unveiled, but thanks to Dalian Shide’s Adriano, we’ve been given a sneak peak of what to expect from the hotly anticipated speed boot.
The Brazilian striker, nicknamed “Adriano Michael Jackson”, wore the Mercurial Vapor 9 as his side took on Liaoning Whowin F.C. We expect that the pink/yellow colourway Adriano is wearing will be one of the release colourways when the Vapor 9 are unveiled in January.
From what we have seen in regards to the latest speed boot from Nike, the biggest change that the Vapor IX will boast is a redesigned upper. If you’ve been listening to our podcast, you’ll recall that the Vapor IX will have a heavily textured upper. Reminiscent of the surface of the moon, we presume that the texture will aid touch and control. Design wise, the instep will feature a big “NIKE” design that we’re sure will split opinion. The biggest thing we’ll be hoping is that Nike will have fixed the durability issues that plagued early released of the Vapor 8 and bogged down an otherwise quality boot.

Do you know if they will change the stud configuration? Because it seems most pros prefer the previous vapor stud configuration.
Stud configuration will remain the same as the one on the MV8.

Nope. They’re fakes, the actual MV 9s will look a bit different to those.

Rather ironically, the Nike stamp is the most accurate part of that whole fake. Agreed that it’s disgusting.
