Despite thinking you know everything about the Superfly II by now, SER wants to add to your knowledge of Nike’s latest and most prestigious soccer shoe.
With an amazing debut highlighted by a wonder strike from Clint Dempsey, the Superfly II has gotten off to a strong start (despite C. Ronaldo not wearing the boots!). Of course, that is to be expected of any $400 USD football boots, taking the fact that I can count the number of $400 USD cleats on one finger! With the release of the cheaper and lighter Adidas F50 Adizero on the horizon, Nike need for this cleat to be a success to maintain their dominance on the speed part of the football boot market. The new top dog of the Nike Mercurial range, is the Superfly II worth it? The question which rings in all our ears will soon be answered in SER’s in-depth review of the Superfly II, so stay tuned for that! Also look out for an opinion post on the Superfly II vs Vapor VIwhich will be up and running shortly! Now, all the details and spec of the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II.
Spec:
The Nike Vapor Superfly II has a revolutionary outsole that combines with Nike’s Flywire engineering for an utterly mind-blowing boot.
UPPER: The Vapor Superfly II has an ultra-thin Teijin upper that’s lined with Flywire filaments in a soccer-specific cabling pattern to deliver a precise fit and optimal support.
The composition of the synthetic material has changed to offer better ball feel and be more durable.
INSOLE: The Superfly II has a contoured sockliner with a Superfly EVA insole.
OUTSOLE: Carbon fiber composite plate is the lightest and strongest outsole Nike has to offer. It has a pressure-activated adaptive traction system for speed in all conditions.
The difference between a soft and firm ground stud is 3mm. So Nike has developed a new stud that extends 3 mm when ground is soft for increased toe-off acceleration and traction. These two longer studs in the forefoot also prevent slippage and create the most comfortable feeling Mercurial ever.
These new toe-off traction spikes enable extra speed bursts, just like traditional track spikes.
Traction pad ensures grip no matter which way you move.
