With all the talk about the Superfly II, what happened to the Nike Mercurial Vapor VI? Once the epitome of technological soccer shoes, it has now been downgraded to #2 in the Vapor line. But, that doesn’t stop us from posting about it!
Once on top of the football boot world, the Nike Mercurial Vapor (I, II, III, IV) used to be in the dreams of every soccer fanatic. It was cutting-edge technology, the limits for a soccer shoe, and light. However, ever since the release of the original Superfly and now the Superfly II, it has become the #2 boot in the Vapor series, the new Talaria. Whilst still carrying a hefty price tag around, it is the choice for all those who can’t-but-wish-they-could afford the Superfly. Now, with the introduction of a new glass fiber bottom and some studs carried on from the Superfly, what’s the difference you may ask. Well, in short- $160 USD and 0.2 oz. Well, you can look for an opinion post on the Superfly II vs Vapor VI shortly, but for now, we’ll just give you the spec and details of the Nike Mercurial Vapor VI.
Spec:
UPPER: Soft, supple Teijin synthetic leather for supreme ball feel. Contoured speed last mirrors the foot shape, while a lace cover increases the ball contact area.

The Vapor VI has new Toe-off traction spikes that enable extra speed bursts, just like traditional track spikes.

Hey Ben its me again one final question. I was lookin up some pictures on the vapor vi and some of them shows that vapor vi to have the rotating studs like the superfly ii (prodirectsoccer), but others like yours above dont have them. So do you know if they have the rotating stud or do they not?
Thanks Ben
Your great help
Hey Kevin,
No worries at all. Ask any questions you ever have whenever you want! That’s what SER is all about- adding to viewers’ knowledge of soccer products.
We’ve been asked this question a lot in the past few days, and Nike just came out with an official release saying,
“It is clear there was some confusion on the exact specifications of the new Mercurial Vapor VI due to the conflicting images in the marketplace. One thing is certain; like all Vapors before it, this new boot was designed and engineered with some of the fastest players in the world and continues to push the boundaries of innovation, whilst remaining incredibly light and responsive. These are definitely among Nike’s most advanced products to date and are built to assist explosive acceleration.”
They go on later to say the pictures you saw with the rotating stud and another one with a Flywire upper are just prototypes they had. They were never meant to go onto the internet, but they have and have caused confusion. So, in short, to answer your question, there is NO rotating Nike Sense stud. Sorry for the confusion! Also, we’ll have a review of the Superfly II in the upcoming month, so stay tuned for that!

Yea I heard that the sizes are a little different and im not sure if the vapor vi are gonna be 1/2 larger like the vapor v. I was wondering that too. Good Question
Do you think that might usefully be given to the VI modelwith flywire and new stud tehnology.
