We all remember the great Nike soccer ads, ranging from the cage 3v3 tournaments with Eric Cantona to the Brazilian National Team showing their samba. These ads will forever stand the test of time, however it’s been a long time since Nike have produced an ad with this type of caliber. The US sports brand, in preparation for the 2010 South Africa World Cup released one that not only is on the same level as these iconic advertisements, it may very well be the best ad EVER!!!
“The time has come for players to carve their name in history.
One touch, tackle or free kick could crush a nation’s hopes or cause them to build a statue in your honor.
Drogba, Rooney and Ronaldo are ready to Write The Future.”
Nike Write the Future is a story of what-ifs with a star-studded cast, ranging from the typical Nike posterboys, to Roger Federer, and even to Homer Simpson! SER would try dissecting and analyzing the video, but that would do it no justice, so we’ll just allow you to relax and watch one of the greatest soccer clips of all time (but if you want to read some comments by top Nike guys while the video is loading, please feel free to scroll down)!
Davide Grasso, NIKE, Vice President of Global Football Marketing said,“This epic campaign really captures the scale, emotion and impact that one single moment in a football game can have on a player, fan or nation. This is just the beginning of the journey. The next stage allows everyone who loves football to engage and interact in an incredible way.â€
“Every touch you have in a game has the ability to change the entire course of not just those 90 minutes, but your entire tournament or season,†said Nike posterboy, Cristiano Ronaldo. “One touch of the ball can be an opportunity to leave your mark on the game and write your own future, or equally a moment missed, that creates a legacy for your opponent with their fans.â€
