Puma are continuing to push Nike and adidas as they attempt to crack the ‘Big Two’, and their latest creation is the Puma Speed Star, a lightweight indoor soccer shoe.
The whole concept of “lightweight” continues to dominate in running, but PUMA’s recent launch of the Speed Star brings the concept to indoor soccer. Inspired by PUMA’s super-light Faas lightweight running footwear collection (“Faas” translates to “Fast” in Jamaica), the Speed Star will have you bolting from one end of the field to the other. Whether you’re a pro, a pick-up player, or a college athlete, with the Speed Star, you’ll know you’re at your absolute best.
The shoe’s one-piece, abrasion-resistant, technical upper is not only lightweight, but also ensures durability, so it performs as hard as you do — and through way more than just a few rough matches. The shoe’s well-cushioned midsole provides comfort and support, while its non-marking outsole features flex grooves for added flexibility. A pivot point makes rotation quick and easy, so you can focus your energy on more important things, like scoring.
And the best part? At PUMA, they would never make you risk fashion for practicality. The PUMA Speed Star has the looks of a sleek street shoe, so you’ll always take the field — or take on your weekend — in style. You can find them at Soccer.com.
We are being sent a pair of the Puma Speed Stars at this very moment, and will have a review up soon. The review will kick off our indoor section of the website.

mercurial indoors can wear for futsal or any wear at all love em an always are wearing them
They look nice…too bad I just got my Street Gatos
Nice to see a review of these coming up. I had already been considering these for my next pair of street shoes, but I think I will be sticking with my Free Run’s. Maybe I will get these as my next futsals (not a big fan of my mercurials, sorry ronnie).
It seems that Puma is getting closer and closer to Adidas and Nike. Let’s see if they can push the Big Two, away from the throne in the next 5 years.
Personally, I love puma, but I know a lot of people who do not wear them because puma shoes tend to be shaped differently than Nike and adidas. Puma will most likely stay that way and cater to a specific group. For that reason, Nike and adidas fans will stay together and puma fans will stay the same.
How much do they weight? I am totally ditching my Nike victory’s indoor (i hate them). If these can fit my wide feet i am sold!
Hate to say it, but PUMA’s tend to be slimmer. They are probably not what you are looking for. Try Nike5. I had a pair and loved them! After using them for more than a year, I wore them out recently and bought some Victory’s as they were all I could get in a hurry. I wish I had waited.
