The 5-a-side game has grown massively over recent years and as a result of its growth, we are seeing more and more shoes made specifically for 5-a-side football. The amount of shoes at your disposal isn’t at all disappointing and adidas have added another turf shoe to the crowded market. Meet the adi5 X-ite.
These sharp Phantom/Metallic Silver/Slime turf shoes utilise a synthetic leather and mesh upper to forge supreme comfort, breathability and flexibility: ensuring that the shoe never feels rigid or tough throughout the duration of your 5-a-aside match.
Also present is a touch compound grid on the vamp and midfoot for better ball touch and control which is the core skill of 5-a-aisde football. Control aspects are becoming increasingly common on football boots and turf shoes these days so it’s no surprise to see adidas pull this one out the bag.
The midsole itself is pre-molded and lightweight EVA – providing comfort, cushioning and shock absorption each and every time you play. This is a step up from adidas’ other adi5 turf shoes, which aren’t as comfortable, so it looks like they have addressed that issue with the X-ite.
Other comfort enhancing additions to the X-ite include the adiPRENE support that sits under your heel for extra cushioning. This add-on is worth mentioning when you acknowledge the fact that your heel is subject to forces in excess of 8 times your body weight during matches! adidas have also slapped on a flexible, 5-a-side stud outsole for quick acceleration and immaculate ball touches. The unique 5-a-side stud configuration with low-speed toe studs (Nike Mercurial, anyone?), round forefoot center studs and triangular TRAXION™ 2.0 studs offers instant acceleration and grip when it is most needed.
The adidas adi5 X-ite will be released in January in several different colourways (this one being the launch colourway) at a low cost of $65/£45. With the turf shoe providing great comfort, stability, durability and even control enhancing aspects, we expect it to be a big hit with the 5-a-side community. What are your thoughts on the new shoe from adidas?
