The 10 Richest Football Clubs of 2013Profile photo of Ben Perkins

In the 16th edition of the Deloitte Football Money League, Deloitte profiles the highest earning clubs in the world’s most popular sport and the game on which this whole website is based. Published eight months after the end of the 2011/12 season, the Money League is the most contemporary and reliable analysis of the clubs’ relative financial performance. Credit to Deloitte for the fabulous information and statistics.

There are a number of financial and non-financial methods that can be used to determine a club’s relative size – including measures of attendance, fanbase, broadcast audience, or on-pitch success. In the Money League, Deloitte focuses on clubs’ ability to generate revenue from day to day football operations. They therefore rank them on those revenues, including matchday ticket and corporate hospitality sales, broadcast rights revenues including distributions from participation in European club competitions, sponsorship, merchandising, and other commercial operations.

We want to hear your thoughts though on the list. Were there any surprise omissions or inclusions? Leave a comment below.

10. Juventus (€195.4m, $266m)

Juventus vs. Parma - Serie A Tim 2012/2013

Juventus’ spectacular return to form on the pitch in the 2011/12 season saw the Bianconeri win their first Scudetto title since 2002/03, with an unbeaten record unprecedented in a 38-game Serie A season. A €41.5m (27%) increase in revenues to €195.4m has fired them back into the Money League top ten, and after several difficult years, the club looks to have regained its status among the European elite.

Ben started the site, then Soccer Equipment Reviews, in 2008 with the help of his brother Derek. With initial modest goals, he never really expected the site to go far, but fast forward to today, and Soccer Reviews is the site to visit for anything football related. He has committed to the University of Kentucky and will be playing for their men's soccer team for the next several years. He plans to study Sports Administration and become a professional manager.
