Paris Saint-Germain announced yesterday that former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has been appointed as manager of the French club. Ancelotti has not seen action since May of last year, so fans will be expecting the Italian to prove himself in the coming weeks.
Paris Saint-Germain have managed to retain their spot at the top of the Ligue-1 table after recording victories over St Etienne, Sochaux and Auxerre throughout the past few weeks. However, the club’s new Qatari owners still felt it necessary to sack Kombouare after the 48-year-old allowed his side to crash out of the Europa League.
Representatives announced the decision in a press conference held at the Parc des Princes in front of an audience of reporters, as well as Ancelotti himself.
The Italian enjoyed massive success during his time in Milan where he won the Champions League twice, as well as the Scudetto once. Ancelotti then moved on the Chelsea where he captured the Premier League title in his first season, becoming the first Italian to ever do so. However, his run of glory soon came to an end and his Chelsea side began to produce poor results. After losing 1-0 to Everton on May 22, Ancelotti was finally sacked and his time in England came to an end.
Now, PSG have decided that Carlo Ancelotti is the perfect man to lead their side to glory after looking solely at his successful time in Italy.
With Paris Saint-Germain currently resting nicely at the top of the League-1 table, Carlo Ancelotti’s new job will no doubt be easier than his last. The 52-year-old may very well win the French title in his first year there, just as he did with Chelsea in 2010.
