For the more eagle-eyed of you football bootspotters, you may have spotted the amount of Adidas F50 Adizero boots that were worn in the Champions League play-off match between Tottenham and Young Boys.
Tuning into both the away and home legs, I was pleasantly surprised to see so many players on the pitch wearing the highly rated Adidas F50 Adizero in the Chameleon, Black & Yellow, Yellow & Black colourways, and even saw the newer Blue, White & Pink colourway. It just goes to show the impact Adidas have created on the footballing world with the release of the Adizero. It also helped that the former lightest boot in the world was the World Cup’s top scoring boot It seemed there was a craze for Lionel Messi’s Chameleon Purple colourway for a while, but after seeing this turn out, it seems the Adizero has caught the world a light with all the colourways and just the boot in general.

Here 4 of the 7 Young Boys players pictured are sporting the Adizero’s. Both the Sea of Yellow World Cup Adizero colourway and the predominately black with yellow stripes colourway compliments the Young Boy’s Yellow & Black Puma kit.

Goal scorer Senad Lulic follows up a powerful shot and easily slots the ball past Gomez. Lulic is one of the 7 Young Boys players spotted wearing the Adizero’s!

Even Young Boy’s keeper Marco Wolfli was wearing a pair of the Adizero’s! It was fantastic to see all these players switching into the new speed boots from Adidas, and if you love bootspotting or the Adidas F50 Adizero, this was a field day.

Young Boys midfield play maker Hochstrasser was wearing the Sea of Yellow Adizero’s when he poked in a goal to make the score in the 1st leg 2-0 to Young Boys and 2-0 to the Adizero.

The Adizero wasn’t finished in the 1st leg though by a long shot. Substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko scored a screamer in the boots to make the score 3-2, and keeping the game alive for Spurs to fight back in the 2nd leg at home!

Here Gareth Bale, Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko are all seen in the Adizero. Messi’s Chameleon Purple colourway is the most popular in the English Premier League right now, and Defoe and Bale are both showcasing the boots brilliantly, with Bale off to a flyer this season and Defoe getting back to full fitness after his injury.

Jermain Defoe just before scoring his expertly placed finish in the 2nd leg at White Hart Lane to make the score 2-0 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate.
The Facts
In total, I spotted 7 Young Boys players wearing the Adizero’s. 4 Sea of Yellow’s, 2 black & yellow’s, and 1 of the flashy Cyan, Pink & White colourway! Players spotted on the Young Boys team sporting the second lightest boot in the world featured their goal keeper, midfielders and forwards, proving the Adizero to be a very popular and well thought of boot amongst professionals of all types and postitions.
5 of the Tottenham squad were/are Adizero wearers, which is also impressive. These players include Bale, Kaboul, Jenas and goal scorers Defoe and Pavlyuchenko. In total 50% of the goals scored over the two legs were scored by the Adizero!
With 12 of the 35 players selected in total from both squads being Adizero wearers and 50% of the goals scored in the 2 legs being scored by the 165 gram boot, the Champions League Qualifying clash was a real spectacle in terms of football entertainment and boot spotting!
