After weeks of speculation over Javier Mascherano’s future, the 26 year old Argentine captain has finally been granted a move to Spanish champions, Barcelona for a reported €22 million. According to Mascherano, the move was made for family reasons.
In an interview with Barca TV, Javier had this to say, “It’s a great joy and a reason to be proud for me and my family because of what it all means, for everything they’ve achieved in the last few years.”
Red’s boss Roy Hodgson was reluctant to sell the defensive midfield player, but after Javier had refused to play in their last two matches, Liverpool were given no choice but to sell. Mascherano is currently in Spain discussing personal terms with his new club, before putting pen on paper to finalize the move.
