United Agree Van Persie Deal

Following weeks of speculation, Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie looks set to join United after it was announced that the Dutchman would be traveling to Old Trafford on Thursday where doctors will assess his fitness and health.

Van Persie, who was the Premier League’s highest scorer last year, has reportedly agreed a deal with the Manchester club that will keep him there for at least four years. Sources say the deal is worth roughly £24 million.

Arsenal’s official website confirmed the news: “Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.”

“Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move,” they added.

Arsenal are losing their top goal scorer and captain, but Wenger isn’t worried. The veteran French manager and his representatives have reportedly already agreed a separate deal that will see a replacement arrive in the coming days.

“We already recruited to replace him,” Wenger briefly stated. But the 62-year-old still admitted that losing a player of Van Persie’s calibre is hard for any side, and that Arsenal were left with no choice regarding the matter.

“It’s sad to lose a player of his quality. He had a year left on his contract so we didn’t have the choice.”

Robin Van Persie has, last season aside, had a career filled with injuries and other problems so Manchester United will need to be cautious when fielding the star Dutchman.

As a gooner, i am somewhat happy that he is gone. I am annoyed however, that we sold him to someone in the league. I really hope he doesn’t become a thorn in our side. I also think that AW’s statement means that his signing (Giroud and Podolski) are the people to replace Van Persie.
