Didn’t get your hands on a pair of the much coveted Nike GS football boots? Well, do not fret as Nike is set to release a new model of the boot this Christmas, and thanks to Borussia Dortmund wonder kid Mario Gotze, we’ve been given a good look at what you can expect from the new boot!
The most hyped boot of all time, the Nike GS, caused massive panic around the world as football boot fans flocked to online retailers this summer to get their hands on a pair of the extremely limited revolutionary concept boot. If you have watched, or listened rather, to any of our podcasts, you would know that Nike have been planning on releasing a new GS due to its extraordinary and unprecedented success, with the expected release date set to be around Christmas time.
Check out our YouTube video (see above), for more images of the Nike GS 2.0 (that is not the official name, rather one we just gave the boot for the sake of differentiation). Based on the images from his one training session with Germany, Mario Gotze appears to have an almost exact replica of the original Nike GS just with a few changes here and there.
The obvious and biggest aesthetic change (other than the colorway when it launches!) appears to be a different soleplate, or at least a different design with a large white stripe running though the middle of the boot. Other than that, there don’t really seem to be that many big changes, at least based on this blackout boot.
With Nike’s announcement of reducing its carbon footprint and effectively eliminating all natural leather from its boots, the Nike GS with its environmentally friendly ethos is set to become a widely distributed boot after previously being the epitome of an exclusive and limited edition release. What do you think? Does this demean and diminish the exclusivity of the first Nike GS? Leave your comments below!
What do you think of Nike releasing a new GS? Will you buy yourself a pair? Leave a comment below.

Won’t the people wh bought the limited edition pairs feel kind of ripped off?
Hey David,
As an owner of the original Green Speed, I’m taking an opposite stance. If anything, my GS goes up in value because I have one of the original versions of the boot. This new GS will be different and cheaper, if people were stupid enough to pay copious amounts of money for a pair on eBay (even though we have said it a dozen times not to do it) then they would be the ones feeling ripped off!
I think the gs is gonna stand in as a new silo for Nike as a light weight boot and if it is, Adidas will be two steps behind because they don’t have a power boot yet and they will also be lacking a “traction” boot competing against the vapor since the gs will be the equivalent of the adizero. or it might be the so rumored “end of the vapor line.”
Im just guessing that it isnt just a white stripe but it could be fiber glass like on the older Tiempos
are the new Nike GS going to be on retail in a blacked-out version or no?
