Which new cleat will be most successful in 2009? We put this question out to you, the viewers, and have been eagerly keeping tabs on what you guys thought about this poll. The 6 options we put forward in the poll were the Nike Mercurial Vapor V, the Reebok Valde, the Umbro SX Valor II, the Adidas F50.9, the Puma V-Construct III, and the Adidas Predator Powerswerve. Here is what you guys thought would be the most successful cleat in the upcoming year.
6. Finishing with 2% of the votes, the Umbro SX Valor II took last place in the poll. It may have been because John Terry had that disastrous slip-up in these cleats in Moscow, or maybe it was because Umbro have had a slump in sales the past few years. For whatever reasons, the SER voters have voted (or a lack of votes) the Umbro SX Vaor II to be the least successful cleat in 2009, and we want to know why.
5. The Reebok Valde Pro ended up in fifth position after the voting was done. The colorful Reebok cleat rounded up a meager 6% of your votes, however, I never expected the cleat to do much better than 5th place, so no real surprise there. Tell us with a comment on how feel with the cleats’ fifth place finish?
4. Once again, this cleat never really had a chance to pressure the cleats in the top three, so the Puma V-Construct III had to settle for 8% of your votes, and a 4th spot finish. Was it because the V-Construct III was too similar to the v1.08, or that it’s another dull Puma product, that you didn’t vote for the cleat? We want to hear why you voted the way you did, so post a comment to share your thoughts on the upcoming 2009 cleats.
3. Adidas was able to place two times in the top three, but their cleat that finished with a bronze medal was the F50.9. The F50.9 earned 22% of your votes which was sufficient for third place in the SER poll. The team here at SER thinks the fourth edition of the F50 collection is too similar to the F50.8, , that’s why we think it deserved third? Why did you vote the F50.9 third? Tell us with a comment.
2. In a tight battle for the gold, the Mercurial Vapor V surprisingly ended up as runner-up in the poll. What turned out to be a neck-and-neck finish, the Nike cleat lost by a mere 2% with a total tally of 37% of your votes. After a year where the Mercurial Vapor IV had the highest number of sales of any soccer cleat, the SER team expected the Vapor V to come up on top. This was a huge surprise and an upset in my book. Some viewers have said the new edition is ugly in comparison to the Vapor IV, but what do you think?
1. In a huge upset in the poll, the Adidas Predator Powerswerve has taken home the gold with 39% of the votes casted by you. The cleat was expected by us here at SER to finish second, but surprisingly took home the jack-pot. Do you think that the Adidas cleat deserved first place or not? Tell us with a comment.

I have a pair of adidas powerserves and they are extremely comfortable and have a nice touch.
Hey Ben, nice website!!
I have a pair of Mercurial Vapors and I’m really not sure if they deserve second place. I would go with the Predators instead.
