‘World’s Best’ May Join Chelsea

Radamel Falcao’s spectacular form last season left many of Europe’s top clubs drooling over his signature, but of the numerous bids that were tossed around during the latest transfer window, none were high enough to coax the Colombian star away from the Vicente Calderon. However, his impressive start to this season suggests that a move abroad may happen for the man being branded the world’s best.

Atletico Madrid captain Gabi says his gifted teammate is the best number 9 in the world, and that he hopes Falcao remains with the club throughout the next few seasons. However, Gabi admitted that his dream of playing alongside Radamel for years to come is improbable, considering the large number of high-profile clubs interested in the 26-year-old.

”He is the best No. 9 in the world and everyone wants to sign him.”

Despite recent reports suggesting Radamel could be heading to England very soon, the Atletico captain remains adamant that the Colombian international is focused on staying in Spain.

“I have spent lots of time with him – he is my room-mate. He is very ambitious and knows he can achieve things here. He is delighted to continue with Atletico… he is very happy to stay with us,” he claimed.

Gabi, 29, says Falcao’s self-belief is stronger than ever thanks to the team’s new method of attack – a style that has helped the striker to score an impressive two hat-tricks this season already.

“His confidence is sky high at the moment. He has found his best style of play – moving around the penalty area, not coming deep to receive the ball as much.”

“The team works a lot so that he is happy and gets the ball.”

Despite Gabi’s claims, potential suitors still remain with English Premier League side Chelsea reportedly preparing an offer in the range of  £48 million. Atletico are desperately trying to prevent a move from happening, but sources say a bid close to £50 million would be too difficult to turn down for the cash-strapped club.
