Umbro England Away Kit SER Review

Review Summary

Umbro launched their latest kit or Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Jermaine Defoe and the rest of the England Squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Umbro have had some major changes in their kit design department and it has really shown. The kick-off of the 09/10 season started a new era for Umbro Kit Design. Classic looks, and a tailor made fashion were what Umbro wanted to bring to the table and that is what they delivered. We at SER believe that Umbro were very successful with their new kit designs as they looked great on the pitch, but we wondered how they perform? This is what Ben and I set out to answer, and what better way to do it then to test the new England Away Kit?

Design

B-E-A-UTIFUL. Umbro definitely hit the spot on this one. The classic inspiration combined with a bit of a modern take have produced a great looking kit. The way the sleeve is cut off from the chest area looks great, as is the way the material has been cut under the arms. Umbro have seemed to take every aspect of this kit and made it good looking. The collar looks great. The white band around the sleeves looks fantastic. In all honesty, there is nothing I can criticize this kit about in the Design section.

Performance

Umbro have once again hit the spot but this time on materials. The material on the front side of the kit feels really thin and soft, making it an overall nice feel. The material used on the sleeve is a very comfortable movable spandex material similar to the ones used for baselayers. The material used on the back and underarms of the kit is a very nice soft breathable material. All in all these materials make this one heck of a comfortable kit. It is a joy wearing this kit,  in fact, it is so comfortable you may even want to wear it at home. It is very breathable as well as great to move in.The only real con found is that the kit can only be bought in the ‘spandexy’ material, and while it feels great, there are those fans out there who’d rather not show their beer bellies!

Conclusion

If you’re an England fan, you will be crazy not to buy it (unless you’re self-conscious!). It’s comfortable, looks fantastic and performs. What more could you ask for in a football kit?  Coming at only $10 more than Nike’s World Cup Kits and Adidas’ cCimacool or Formotion versions and it is $70 cheaper than Adidas’ techfit World Cup Kits. The Umbro England Away Kit has definitely earned an SER RECOMMENDATION.
