Introduction
As of late, Umbro have been putting all their efforts into marketing their brand and their latest boots, the Speciali, but lets see how they fared under SER’s testing…
Since Nike’s takeover of Umbro, the British brand has been experiencing success through upping their marketing, and having all their sponsored players only playing in one set of boots, the new Speciali. Midway through July, Umbro released their latest incarnation, the Speciali, and were hoping it would lift Umbro’s legitimacy and stance in the football market.
Their slogan for the new cleats is, “What’s so special about the Speciali’s?” They ask several of their sponsored players the question, including Michael Owen, Deco, and Gael Clichy and they had all positive remarks (of course that’s to be expected!). John Terry said about the Speciali’s, “The new Speciali is the best boot Umbro has ever built. I’ve been testing it out and it’s not only a stylish and functional boot, but also gives the perfect fit and comfort I need to play at this level.”
However, SER didn’t fail to notice that if world class players such as these three and John Terry wore the boots, they had to be pretty special at the least , so we decided we wanted to test them out. We quickly obtained a pair of the boots and put it to the test.
