The Mercurial range debuted at the 1998 World Cup with Brazil icon Ronaldo wearing the Air Mercurial boots and it has remained to today as the most popular Nike football boot range of all time. The Mercurial range has attracted the biggest names in football in it's time with the likes of Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, Roberto Carlos, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo wearing the speed boot in their careers. The Vapor range debuted at the 2002 World Cup and again was headlined by Ronaldo who did wonders for the Vapor's cleat sales when he helped Brazil to win their fifth World Cup title.
The Mercurial Vapor range has been on the market for over 10 years and has had ten generations produced with the current range being the Mercurial Vapor X. Now working in sync with the Mercurial Superfly range which debuted in 2009, the Mercurial Vapor was one of the first cleat ranges to use synthetic technologies resulting in a lighter and faster soccer cleat. Before FlyKnit was introduced into the Superfly in 2014, the speed boot used FlyWire technologies which used Brio cables to lock down your foot into the cleat.
