'La Albiceleste' translated to 'The White and Sky Blue' has been christened to the Argentina national team due to their trademark home jersey consisting of white and blue stripes, of which the likes of soccer greats; Diego Maradona, Mario Kempes, and Gabriel Batistuta have all adorn. Argentina's most recognisable jersey is arguably their adidas design used for the 1978 FIFA World Cup on home soil which saw the team hold aloft the illustrious trophy for the first time in their history. Whilst a sky blue jersey is worn for home matches, an alternative strip is used when required which again features blue however in a much darker shade whilst still incorporating subtle sky blue trim applications.
